4 Month Check up & Baby Weight

Brychan had his 4 month check up this week...we're a little behind, but what can you do?!?

Length: 25.5 (75th percentile)
Weight: 16lbs 2 oz (75th perc)
Head: 42.5 cm (55th perc)

He also had his shots, which he did really good with the first day. However, the second day was NOT fun. His first round of shots was such a breeze that I just assumed this time would be as easy. Not so! Add to that a little cold he has, and he was one miserable little boy. Which made for one miserable little mommy too. Gladly, he is feeling much better now! His newest little trick? His fake cough. I will hear him sputtering and coughing and go to check on him, and he has this HUGE smile on his face; mid-cough. He is such a ham! He is also now rolling over from his back to his belly, and is quickly figuring out he can travel by rolling. He is oh so close to sitting up on his own, but still needs a little bit of help from his Boppy.

I am still on my quest for no post-prego weight. I've lost a whopping 2 pounds. My husband has been kind enough to take Brychan for me each night at 8:00pm so I can have whatever time I need to work out. This week, I've been trying to start running again. Ugh! Starting over from scratch is hard enough, and it just gets harder the older you get. I'm really, really starting to dislike all these skinny minnies I see all over the place that are stick thin with a tiny, brand new baby. How is it that they get to go back to their skinny little bodies, and my once thin body seems to be history? I keep telling myself it will get easier once I stop nursing, but I'm beginning to lose hope. I have a friend from high school who had her third child just over a year ago, and she just finished a triathalon. Debbie - you're awesome, and are totally motivating me to get in gear!! :)

South Dakota

We got home from Six Lakes Wednesday night, and Friday morning we were off to South Dakota for a memorial for my Aunt Lois (Grandma Hatch's sister). We were only there for one day...not enough time! I forget just how much I love South Dakota until I get back home. We spent Saturday morning at Storybook Island (an awesome, huge, fun, free park) with my brother's family.

Brychan & Payton loved each other! Payton is only a month and a half older than Brychan, and they just had the best time together.

Six Lakes

We spent several days at Six Lakes, Utah with David's family. 18 of us all in the same cabin with canoeing, boating, games and lots of Wii. We had so much fun! There are more photos to come later, just as soon as I get copies from everybody else!

A guy, a boy and a boat...
This boat IS tied to the dock...I did not let my son out in middle of the lake on a little row boat. However. We did try taking a similar photo with Brychan and I in a semi-docked canoe. It ended up being the ride of a lifetime for Brychan, while I ended up bruised, very wet and extremely terrified. All was well in the end, although I do not recommend canoes as photo props unless safely secured!

Brychan "swimming". He had SO much fun, and didn't care that the water was freezing.

Cousins Emma and Taylor (all very wiggly as you can see)

Bear Lake

This past weekend, we started our crazy summer of many trips by heading up to Bear Lake. I have to admit I wondered a bit about my sanity taking a 4 month old and 3 dogs camping, but it was great! (Minus a few travel woes with Biggs). Brychan did absolutely wonderful and we had a really fun time. Jeremy, Michelle and Jacob joined us for dinner and s'mores our first night...I am totally kicking myself for not getting the camera out. Thanks for coming up, guys!

Our campsite was perfect...nice and secluded, very quiet. Just LOTS of mosquitos. And just as many flies (we later stumbled across some sort of dead carcass, which we're assuming was responsible for the ridiculous number of flies). We kept track of 'squito bites:
Dave: 0
Brychan: 2
Alyssa: Well, I stopped counting once I got to 30, but you get the idea.

David and Brychan got up to enjoy the sunrise Friday morning. I enjoyed the photos.

Brychan got a HUGE kick out of Kodi licking his fingers. I told both of them they'd better enjoy it, cause the only reason I was allowing any licking at all was because we were camping, and after so much dirt...what's a little more? Brychan really seems to be "getting" the fact that we have dogs and that they interact with him. He was pulling Kodi's lips, poking him in the eyes and squealing with delight. Kodi, like a trooper, took it in stride and kept coming back for more.

My boys...

Near our campsite. I saw the light in the trees and loved it. Dave was kind enough to jump out of the truck to snap the photo.

This weekend we're off to Six Lakes, Utah for a week with Dave's family. I'm sure we'll have many more photos to share by the end!
