Daddy's Helper

Brychan is SO in love with his daddy! Anytime Dave is working on projects around the house, Brychan is right there by his side trying to imitate whatever it is that David is doing. I love watching them "work"!

And for those of you who are interested, Brychan's signing "vocab" now includes: thank-you, fish, water, asleep, eat, stop and bath. He is still trying to learn how to actually say: stop, bird and ball. He's getting closer on each of them!

Apologies...

I'm sorry to bombard with so many posts at once, but I'm trying to catch up. It's getting harder and harder around here to stay on top of things!!

Brychan is doing great. He is getting more and more fun by the day. "Fun" includes a bit of a temper, your normal toddler "independence" (like getting caught with something he knows he's not supposed to have, tucking it under his arm like a football and running as fast as he can trying to get away) as well as all the cute, fun things he does every day. Thank goodness the REAL fun far outweighs the not-so-"fun". He is a doll and we absolutely love him!

The other day, I was watching a Baby Einstein video with him about animals in your neighborhood. He was signing the animals that he knew, and I was trying to teach him some new ones. The video started talking about bugs and Brychan started pointing to himself repeatedly. It took me a minute to realize he thought when they were talking about "bugs" they were talking about him! It was too cute!! I knew he knows he is Brychan, but I didn't realize he knew he was Bug too!

More photos with Jocie

Okay. This photo shoot wasn't so successful. Brychan wanted nothing to do with it and showed an amazing amount of toddler attitude. He was determined he was going to do everything HIS way, with absolutely NO help from anybody. No holding his hand, no talking to him, no nothing. I'm amazed Jocie got any photos at all. This was definitely easier when he was less mobile. And much less independent. As much as I hate to say it, I think he has a big, fat streak of his mother in him!

Easter

We had such a fun Easter! Brychan really did enjoy his little Easter egg hunt, although he was very serious about the entire ordeal. He was especially excited once he realized there were candy/toys inside some of the eggs! David and I dyed the eggs while Brychan was napping and David took them all outside just as Brychan was waking up. Shortly after our egg hunt, Jeremy, Michelle and their boys came over for dinner. It was a fun afternoon all around!!

"Helping" Mommy Pack

Of course, Brychan LOVES helping out with the packing. The boxes half full of random items are way too intriguing to just leave alone, and he wants to be in the middle of everything. He loves taking everything out of the box and then putting it all back in. If I could only get him to put them back the way he found them! The following happens on a weekly basis. I think in order for me to get anything done, Brychan's going to have to have some play dates with some friends over the next couple of months. Luckily, he has lots of offers!

Afternoon in the Park

Jocie & Mark spent some time with us at the park in between conference sessions on Sunday.

My son is obviously not shy. Especially if there's food involved. He didn't look back at us once he noticed this group of people picnicing had food. And they were more than happy to offer to share...

Update...

It's official. We are definitely packing up and moving back to Phoenix in a few more months. Well, it's moving "back" for me - this will be David's first time living on the face of the sun.

We have mixed emotions about it - there are people we love here who we will miss dearly, but there are lots of positive aspects of it too! First and foremost, we will only have one house to worry about (we hope!). I will not miss ice on my windshield or snowy springs. Dave will have about a tenth of yard work to worry about. I will get to live close to my sister. But most importantly, we really feel like that is where we need to be. We have fasted and prayed about it and really feel like it's the right thing to do. We feel that all the events of the last month have helped push us towards that decision which we otherwise wouldn't have made. Now we're just keeping our fingers crossed that everything falls into place accordingly!

And, a quick update on Brychan too! He has started signing up a storm the last couple of weeks! He's signing "vocabulary" consists of: more, ball and shoes (which all look exactly the same - but in his defense, they are all very similar hand motions). He also does milk, please, bird and dog. He is working on saying "eat" and "candy" which he does well; except for the fact that he does the signs on my face instead of his. Either way, I know what he's trying to say! He becomes more and more delightful everyday and we love, love, LOVE him!!!

Big Haircut!

Before...

During...

After...

He did great at the salon! And kudos to the girl cutting his hair - she did a great job - especially with him trying to turn around and watch what she was doing the entire time. Where did my baby go?
