Memorial Day Camping

For Memorial Day weekend, we met up with a few other families in our ward for a fun camping trip.  Most of them started on Thursday, but we decided to wait until Saturday morning (we had originally planned on going Friday after work, but decided it wasn't worth setting up camp in the dark...).

We were supposed to stay until Tuesday, but after two night of NO SLEEP (thank you to freezing cold temps and two restless, crabby little boys), we decided just to cut it a day short and come home Monday.  Even though it was freezing, we still had so much fun!  I'm sad I didn't get more photos; but the boys were always off playing with friends, and I was too busy trying to stay warm anyway.

Our "neighbors" had their dog, Sherlock with them, and this is where Kehlton spent 90% of his time.  Every once in awhile, the dog would go for a walk or with his owners on a Rhino ride, and Kehlton was just devastated every time Sherlock left.  As soon as Sherlock made it home, Kehlton made a
bee-line for him yelling "Bow Wow back!!!". This kid LOVES his dogs!!

The kids found a nice, large, fuzzy caterpillar Sunday afternoon and they were all totally enamored with it! :)  They all sat at this tree for the longest time.

And Brychan, being the excellent big brother that he is, made sure to come find Kehlton (who was, of course, with Sherlock) and bring him over so he could see the caterpillar too.  I love this photo just because you can totally see how caring, protective and loving Brychan is to his little brother!
Oh.  Another problem we ran into?  Nowhere to cook!!  Due to large wild fires throughout Arizona, we knew fires wouldn't be permitted.  So, we planned on doing 100% dutch oven cooking with charcoal.  However, once we got up there, we found out charcoal wasn't permitted either.  Thankfully, the Stubbs and Hall families let us borrow their propane grills/stoves to cook with.
We really did have SO much fun!  It was nice to get out of town and just visit with friends.  Can't wait for the next camping trip!!
