St. George

Originally, this trip was supposed to be an anniversary trip for Dave & I. However, we couldn't leave Brychan behind, so it turned into our first family vacation. We had a lot of fun and really enjoyed St. George.

Brychan's first swimming trip...he did so good! The water was pretty chilly and I expected him to cry the whole time, but he hardly cried at all! He was very interested in the way the lights reflected off the water.

Just Chillin'

Summer is finally here...and what better way to enjoy it than without your clothes?!? We did not pose this photo at all; this is how he frequently likes to lay. Some day it will be a recliner with a remote in one hand...

All Smiles

Brychan really is such a happy baby. However, he seems to know when we have the camera out, because the instant we try to snap a photo of his cute smile, he shuts it off. We've managed to catch a few smiles, but none of the photos do him justice. He's just too cute!

Meeting Baby Ellie

Ellie Grace is Brychan's newest little cousin. This was our first time meeting her. We thought our little baby was still "little", but this was the day we realized he's really not little at all!! Baby Ellie is absolutely adorable and so tiny!

2 Month Check Up & Latest Happenings

I'm a little behind, but life's been crazy the last few weeks! Last Monday (May 5), Brychan had his 2 month check up, where he received 3 shots. The ONE thing I asked Dave to be in charge of with the baby was taking him to get shots. I remember vividly going along when my youngest brother got his first round of shots and how heartbreaking that was. And that was just my brother - not even my baby!! Conveniently enough, Dave was out of town for the doctor's appt., so I had to just deal. Brychan was a trooper; only cried because I wasn't feeding him and he wasn't too happy about being pinned down on the table. Once the nurse let go of him, he went right back to his normal self. He did do better than mommy...although I just got a little teary - nothing major. Anyway, here are his current stats:
Weight: 12lbs 5oz (90th percentile)
Length: 24 1/2" (70th percentile)
Head: 39.7cm (45th percentile)
He's obviously growing like a weed!

Dave was in Washington DC for two weeks. I NEVER want to be a single mom. Thanks to my mom for coming back up for a week to help out and to Dave's parents for letting us come visit for a few days. Jax just didn't work out, so Dave had to go get another new dog. This time, we have Nestle (Yes, as in Quick or Crunch. Seriously...I don't know who's in charge of naming these poor dogs). Nestle is a chow/lab mix, and as far as our dogs go, is very little! I hate having to give these dogs back, so I'm trying my hardest NOT to bond with this puppy. He's pretty cute though, and very loving...so he's making it pretty hard.

I had a fair amount of trauma this week. I accepted a teaching job for just 4 hours on Monday afternoon. Dave was supposed to be at home with Brychan, so I figured it wouldn't be a big deal. Turns out, Dave ended up having to go to work, and it was too late for me to get out of going to work, so Brychan had to stay with somebody else. Thank heavens Aunt Michelle was willing and able to take Brychan - otherwise I couldn't have done it. I put on the bravest face I could to go drop him off, and was doing quite well until Michelle asked if I was doing okay. I cried all the way from Layton back up to Huntsville. Okay. Not just cried. Bawled. I've left him with Michelle before, and even with Grandma Davis. But this was different. First of all, it wasn't at our house. Secondly, it was longer than just a couple of hours. And lastly, it was so that I could go to work. I felt so incredibly guilty. After years of working in the preschool/child care industry and telling hundreds of crying mothers that their child is fine...that it's harder for mom than it is for baby...I STILL became one of those moms. Needless to say, Brychan did great and I survived. Hopefully I can handle any future babysitting visits or needs much better than I handled that one!

More photos are coming...I will get them up as soon as I have another free minute or two!

HELP!!!

Okay...so I am absolutely desperate to get the baby weight OFF. I've lost just over half of it, and am more than ready to shed the last 20 pounds. I found this photo of Dave and I last year (March '07) and I would give just about anything to be back in these clothes. Any brilliant suggestions or tried and true exercises? Brychan and I go walking everyday that the weather is nice, and I've been doing floor exercises every night before bed, but the pounds are not budging.
